India, Nepal: New Delhi to build Rail Link to Kathmandu

India agreed on April 7 to construct a rail link from the border town of Raxaul in the Indian state of Bihar to Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, and to open up inland waterways in the landlocked Himalayan nation, Reuters reported. India’s move was spurred by China’s expansive infrastructure projects in Nepal as both countries compete for influence in the region.
