Netherlands: Chemical Weapons Watchdog rejects Russia’s request for New U.K. Poisoning Probe

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons voted against Russia’s request to launch a new joint investigation into the country’s role in a nerve agent attack that poisoned former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in England, RFE/RL reported April 4. The Russian ambassador to the United Nations called for a U.N. Security Council meeting to be held April 5 regarding the Skripal attack. Though tensions between Russia and the West have been fraught, the Skripal attack has rapidly escalated matters, leading many countries to expel Russian diplomats.
