Syria: U.S. Reportedly Building 2 Bases in Manbij

The United States is reportedly building two bases in Syria’s Manbij province near Dadat village and the front line south of Dadat, Anadolu Agency reported April 3, citing local sources in the area. On April 1, the United States deployed a convoy of armored vehicles, construction equipment and 300 soldiers to northern Manbij, which the U.S.-backed Kurdish People’s Protection Unit (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants currently occupy. Though Ankara and Washington have set up working groups to address security in Manbij, continued Turkish pressure targeting the YPG could mean U.S. support may likely be transitory.
