Turkey: Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant will Launch in 2023, Putin Says

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Turkey on April 3 to remotely inaugurate the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, Turkey’s first nuclear reactor, and said it will be launched in 2023, The Daily Star reported. Turkey’s atomic energy authority granted Russia’s state-run nuclear power company, Rosatom, a construction license on April 2 to begin work on the first unit. The inauguration is another sign of deepening bilateral ties between Turkey and Russia.
