U.S.: GCC Summit Postponed To September

A summit between the United States and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, aimed at ending the diplomatic crisis, was initially scheduled for April 1 but has been postponed until September, Al Jazeera reported April 4. In June 2017, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut diplomatic ties with Qatar over its alleged support for terrorism and ties to Iran, causing the GCC to fragment. The bloc will likely continue to weaken.
